Artist's Statement
In my most recent work, I'm exploring different ways to show the complexity of the individual, rather than simply just recording a static representation.Through the use of design elements, symbols and sometimes whimsical details, I create paintings that tell a story, whether it's a state of being, something from my imagination or a slice of time. In showing these different facets of humanity, I invite viewers to consider their own stories and what makes them unique.
I've always been drawn to creating faces and figures and I enjoy seeing the beauty in each and every one of my models. I believe that artists have a privilege and a responsibility: to express themselves but to treat the human form with dignity and respect.
It's a supreme and humbling challenge to capture the mood and personality of the sitter and I enjoy learning a little about them during the process. By creating artwork for the glory of God, I hope to draw others to the ultimate Creator.
