I enjoy creating figurative paintings that tell a story and much of my inspiration comes from the stars. I imagine constellations coming to life, Copernicus with a modern-day sweater, and a celestial tea ceremony. Along with artists and poets, I've always been influenced by author Ray Bradbury. I think my charcoal portraits tell their own stories, too ... they're done primarily from life and I'm always struck anew at the connection I make with my sitters in that brief time -- what a privilege!
