I've always drawn people - in pencil, pastel and later, oil. Now I create figurative paintings that tell a story and much of my inspiration is drawn from the stars. I imagine the Pleiades (Seven Sisters) at play, a procession of constellations and a series of whimsical moons. I paint for the "Keeper of the Stars" and hope to draw others to the ultimate Creator.

That leap of faith led to new opportunities including creating and exhibiting her work, teaching small classes and honing her skills drawing quick-sketch charcoal and pastel drawings. The first spot for the drawings was Peninsula Art Academy followed by outdoor shows and an enjoyable stint at Yankee Peddler Festival.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands."
Shannon Casey studied Journalism and Studio Art at Kent State University which led to a career in advertising. She later attended Cleveland Institute of Art as a non-degree student to study portrait painting with Joseph Cintron. Those classes opened up new possibilities and ultimately led to a change of career.
She was pleased to be a founding member of Uncommon Art Gallery in Hudson and active in the Hudson Art Hops. Her work has been included in many local exhibitions and juried shows including the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation, Cleveland Botanical Gardens, Cleveland Hopkins Airport, Summit ArtSpace and the Paul & Norma Tikkanen Painting Prize, 2022.
